In May enhancing the spotlight we looked in depth at 4 of the 5 weekly rewards and in June enhancing the spotlight we covered the final reward so if you want to revisit them for a refresher on how to utilize these hours they are linked.
In this edition we will include a concise PvP breakdown on IVs to target and how much to prioritize grinding for XLs during the weekly spotlight hours which occur on Tuesdays between 6pm and 7pm local time
GO Stadium has an excellent IV rank checker to show how your Pokémon is ranked, and you can adjust for any way you obtain the Pokémon. The website is linked in the terms section at the bottom along with some helpful explanations of common Pokémon GO phrases if needed.

— September 7 — Spoink Spotlight —
Bonus: 2x Stardust for Catching
Spoink: Psychic - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 1508
Grumpig: Psychic - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 2679
Weaknesses: Bug, Dark, Ghost
Resistances: Fighting, Psychic
Evolution Costs: 50 Spoink candy > Grumpig
2nd Charge Move Costs: 25 Spoink candy & 10k stardust
LC: Spoink: 0/12/12 level 15
GL: Spoink: 15/15/15 level 49.5
GL: Grumpig: 1/14/15 level 24
UL: Grumpig: 3/14/15 level 50
ML: N/A
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: Yes
Mega Evolve: Slowbro
PVP Considerations
This is a great spotlight hour for PvP purposes, but only because of that 2x Stardust bonus. As it currently stands, Spoink and Grumpig have no value in PvP but that could always change in the future. Grumpig has a nice defensively oriented stat distribution. It also has access in the Main Series RPGs to moves such as Body Slam, Fire/Ice/Thunder Punch, Icy Wind, Grass Knot, and Focus Blast. With a little bit of moveset love it could become more PvP relevant. Keep a few good ones in the bag, collect some XL candy for a potential future UL Grumpig, and just load up on that sweet sweet stardust, Ziggy!

— September 14 — Baltoy Spotlight —
Bonus: 2x XP for Catching
Baltoy: Ground/Psychic - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 889
Claydol: Ground/Psychic - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 2229
Weaknesses: Bug, Dark, Ghost, Grass, Ice, Water
Resistances: Fighting, Poison, Psychic, Rock, 2x Electric
Evolution Costs: 50 Baltoy candy > Claydol
2nd Charge Move Costs: 50 Baltoy candy & 50k stardust
LC: Baltoy: 0/12/14 level 27
GL: Claydol: 0/14/15 level 29.5
UL: Claydol: 15/15/15 level 50
ML: N/A
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: Yes
Mega Evolve: Slowbro
PVP Considerations
This spotlight hour is more relevant for the Catch XP than it is for the featured mon. Baltoy and Claydol currently have limited to no usage in PvP. In terms of future planning, Claydol is a Pokémon that is worth keeping around just in case. It has an absolutely amazing defensive stat distribution, making it exceptionally bulky in the Great League, and has access to hard-hitting Confusion and Mud Slap as fast moves. What holds it back is its charge moves, as all its options are 55 energy and up. Earth Power, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, Psychic, and Earthquake are all fantastic move choices, but Claydol lacks a low energy move to pair with one of those and its fast moves don’t generate energy quickly. As a result is left being too slow and clunky. This is another one to keep in the bag for future usage. In terms of XL candies, Claydol only hits 2255CP at Level 51, so even with a moveset update it is unlikely to make a significant impact. This means gaining XL candies is not a priority, and more of a “just in case” sort of deal.

— September 21 — Skitty Spotlight —
Bonus: 2x Candy for Catching
Skitty: Normal - 15/15/15 level 50 - 835 CP
Delcatty: Normal - 15/15/15 level 50 - 1691 CP
Weaknesses: Fighting
Resistances: 2x Ghost
Evolution Costs: 50 Skitty candy > Delcatty
2nd Charge Move Costs: 50 Skitty candy & 50k stardust
LC: Skitty: 0/15/14 level 28
GL: Delcatty: 0/15/15
UL: N/A
ML: N/A
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: Yes
Mega Evolve: Lopunny, Pidgeot
PVP Considerations
Delcatty is yet another Pokémon that is currently lackluster in PvP. It once again has decent stats but its moveset leaves much to be desired. While Charm is a powerful fast attack, Delcatty is missing the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) that makes Fairy type Charm users powerful. Delcatty has an interesting array of charge moves with Disarming Voice and Wild Charge, but Charm is too slow to make use of those too often. If given something like Body Slam, Delcatty would improve on its win rate and become much more viable. As a result, this is another to keep in the bag for a rainy day. For XL candies, Delcatty needs XL to reach its maximum stat product in the Great League. However, you might be better served building a High IV version, such as a lucky one, in the future to save costs which would require little to no XL candies.

— September 28 — Alolan Meowth Spotlight —
Bonus: 2x Candy for Transfer
Alolan Meowth: Dark - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 901
Alolan Persian: Dark - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 2002
Weaknesses: Bug, Fairy, Fighting
Resistances: Dark, Ghost, 2x Psychic
Evolution Costs: 50 Meowth candy > Alolan Persian
2nd Charge Move Costs: 50 Meowth candy & 50k stardust
LC: Alolan Meowth: 1/15/15 level 25
GL: Alolan Persian : 1/15/15 Level 34.5
UL: N/A
ML: N/A
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: Yes
Mega Evolve: Gyarados, Houndoom
PVP Considerations
Alolan Meowth and Alolan Persian have little to no usage in PvP….. where have we heard this before? Similar to before, this is another “keep a few good ones in the bag”. There are a few big benefits that should get you excited about this spotlight hour. First, Perrserker is a relevant Pokémon in Ultra League, and requires XL candies to reach its maximum stat product. Because Galarian Meowth and Alolan Meowth both utilize the same candy supply, you can use this as an opportunity to build a Perrserker. Second, Alolan Meowth is one of those special Pokémon that give bonus dust. You get 750 dust for each Alolan Meowth caught, or 938 for all you Foggy weather fans out there. Pop a star piece and let the dust roll in!
